Carefully selected Italian and Greek leathers, chosen for their character, durability and finish. Materials are never just looks — they are what define the object.
We source our leathers from two selected partners — one in Greece and one in Italy — who stand out for their consistent quality and expertise. Each leather is evaluated for its texture, structure and balance: elements that determine how the bag feels, how it holds its shape and how it evolves over time.
Beyond the leather, every supporting material is chosen with the same care. Reinforcements, linings, threads — all selected to increase durability and functionality, without adding unnecessary weight or bulk. The microfiber we use for the lining, sourced from Spain, offer a more refined feel and high wear resistance.
Metals, adhesives, and finishes are never an afterthought. Each material plays a role in the integrity of the item, contributing to a bag that is thoughtfully designed — from the inside out.
THE CRAFT
Process
Each bag is handmade in Athens, through a precise and conscious process. Every stage — from cutting to sewing — is guided by focus and care.
Every ABYSS ATHENS creation is completed entirely by a leather craftsman, from start to finish, in Athens. This allows for complete control at every stage of creation — and ensures that nothing is rushed, outsourced, or tampered with.
The process begins with optimizing the design: balance, proportions and function. Patterns are developed with precision so that the bag is not only aesthetically clean, but also structurally sound and durable.
From the first cut of leather to the construction and stitching, every movement is done slowly and consciously. The parts are prepared one by one, assembled with precision and constantly checked throughout the creation.
Finishing is where the object takes on its final identity — alignment, edge painting, and detailing. Nothing leaves the workshop unless it meets the initial standards set: purity, durability, and quiet perfection.

We work in small batches so that there is time to perfect every detail.
Time is fundamental to the way we create. At ABYSS ATHENS, we choose a slower pace — not out of nostalgia, but out of control. Producing in small quantities allows each bag to receive the attention it deserves, without compromise.
Because each piece is created by a single pair of hands, the process cannot be sped up without losing what matters. Time creates space for precision: for proper alignment, clean construction, reinforcement, and refined finishing.
This approach is what makes the difference between something that looks good for one season and something that retains its value for years. We design with durability in mind — materials that age, details that endure, and shapes that stay relevant beyond trends.
